Chapter I

Every hut has a story

"I started building my very first shepherd hut in 2011, in my garage with my cousin George. Our watchword from the very beginning has been quality."

Will — Founder

Firstly, thank you for stopping by. Blackdown is a team of talented craftsmen and women who create shepherd huts that exceed expectations and become a much-loved part of your life.

Every hut is engineered in CAD and finished by hand in Somerset — FSC-certified French oak, traditional cladding, copper detailing. Designed to last generations, not seasons.

The Craft

Interior detail of a Blackdown shepherd hut showing curved oak ceiling, skylight and joinery

Every joint, every wheel, every plank. We combine heavy-duty chassis construction with fine oak joinery to create a structure that will weather the seasons for decades.

"The quality of artisan joinery within these huts is exceptional. I've been bowled over."
